and it just feels good coming home

things i totally dig-

Putting my feet out the window of a car. All things car-related, most times.

The smell of coffee.

A washer and dryer in a hotel room.

A simultaneous strong handshake.

Bug’s Pontiac Vibe.

Saying the same thing as a sports commentator before they say it.

Lottery tickets.

Nailing a parallel parking spot on the first try.

New/Fresh sheets. Can’t beat em.

When I know all the buttons to speed through an automated telephone call.

Re-hashing random questions as you’re crossing any border.

When people I know quote lines from movies I’ve actually seen and all of the sudden remember.

When keys work to open up a taped package.

Sitting next to a babe on a plane.

Adrenaline.

Midwest Tours.

The instant I see Brittney or get into her car or one of us arrives at the destination, we don’t eve say anything, we just start laughing.

Getting home after driving for hours and mom has everything made.

My little brothers smile.

The way Jay Rose says “BENDER.”

Seeing fireworks off a dock.

When your pancakes turn out like the picture on the box.

Wearing white soccer socks.

Leaving the field with those soccer socks muddy and stained.

A great tumble on the field that didn’t even sting.

When the guy at the store brings you out 10 pairs of cleats.

When people at the store don’t ask me if I need help. I can handle shopping.

Realizing I’ve been holding my breath during a soccer match.

When someone says, “god you’re so European, why are you even here?”

When someone grumbles at US Soccer fans.

Rock-Paper-Scissors decision making.

Remembering what happened in a movie.

Waking up and realizing it’s Saturday.

Multi-tasking while brushing my teeth.

Smooth jazz.

The Three Paycheck Month.

Not having to change diapers.

The first shower after gritty camping.

When the rollercoaster drops.

How happy people are when something is designed or re-designed for them.

When someone says “God, I can’t get over your bed though..”

Handwritten things, mail through the post.

Building forts.

New socks.

Clothes coming out of the dryer.

Making it safely up a tree or old ladder.

Laying down in movie theatres.

Getting a really long scrabble word.

When the lights go out before the band goes on stage.

The face people make after they feel my muscles.

The praise from beating every boy I know at Nintendo.

Hearing live music just as you’re about to call it a night.

Seeing firefighters in their trucks.
